About the Role
The Jersey City Redevelopment Agency (“JCRA”) seeks a qualified and experienced Community Event Programming Manager to support community programming and public use of the historic Loew’s Jersey Theatre.
The Community Event Programming Manager will serve as the primary liaison for community organizations, nonprofit entities, schools, civic groups, and other local partners interested in hosting events and programs at the Loew’s Jersey Theatre. The successful candidate will assist with event intake, evaluation, planning, coordination, and on-site management to help ensure community events are well organized, properly supported, and successfully executed.
This position is ideal for an individual with experience in event management, venue operations, community engagement, and event production.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional analytical and writing skills with strong attention to detail, be highly organized, and be motivated by the public mission of the JCRA. This is a high-exposure, fast-paced role that blends project management, policy analysis, and strategic support. The Advisor will need to be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders to advance redevelopment projects.
JCRA is open to a wide range of candidates with diverse backgrounds, with precise title and compensation set depending on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Community Event Inquiries and Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community organizations seeking to utilize the Loew’s Jersey Theatre for events, performances, meetings, educational programs, and other community activities.
- Respond to inquiries regarding venue availability, event opportunities, facility requirements, policies, procedures, and operational expectations.
- Gather, review, and evaluate event information, including proposed programming, anticipated attendance, scheduling requirements, technical needs, and logistical considerations.
- Communicate regularly with event organizers throughout the planning process and provide guidance regarding venue policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with JCRA staff, theater personnel, and event organizers to facilitate successful event planning and execution.
Event Review and Advance Planning
- Review and assess proposed community events for operational feasibility and consistency with venue policies and requirements.
- Conduct advance planning meetings and coordinate communications among event organizers, venue personnel, and JCRA representatives.
- Identify production, staffing, technical, security, safety, logistical, and operational needs associated with proposed events.
- Coordinate required approvals and ensure necessary information is provided by organizers in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records relating to event inquiries, planning activities, approvals, and event schedules.
Event Production and On-Site Management
- Serve as the lead event coordinator for designated community programs and events.
- Attend and oversee assigned events at the Loew’s Jersey Theatre to facilitate smooth event operations.
- Coordinate with organizers, venue staff, contractors, vendors, technicians, volunteers, and other event personnel, as necessary.
- Address operational issues and implement timely solutions during event setup, execution, and breakdown.
- Ensure compliance with venue policies, operational procedures, and applicable event requirements.
Administration and Reporting
- Maintain professional and timely communication with community organizations and internal stakeholders.
- Track event inquiries, planning activities, event status, and follow-up actions.
- Prepare and maintain event schedules, production notes, contact lists, and other event-related documentation.
- Conduct pre-event and post-event communications with organizers as appropriate.
- Provide periodic updates and reports to JCRA management regarding community programming activity, event scheduling, and operational issues.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in event planning, event production, venue management, community programming, performing arts administration, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with community organizations, nonprofit entities, vendors, venue personnel, contractors, and government agencies.
- Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to identify and address operational challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple events, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with standard business software, scheduling tools, and event-related documentation.
- Professional demeanor, reliability, responsiveness, and customer-service orientation.
Preferred Experience
The following are valued but not required:
- Experience working in a theater, performing arts center, cultural institution, historic venue, or similar event environment.
- Familiarity with event production, staging, audiovisual systems, and venue operations.
- Experience coordinating community-based programming and public events.
Compensation & Work Schedule
This is a part-time position compensated at $50.00 per hour.
Hours will vary based upon community programming activity and may include administrative coordination, planning meetings, event preparation, and on-site event management. The position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and other hours as necessary to support scheduled events and programs.
The position does not include qualify for benefits.
